I knew it! My teenage crush comes out as a lesbian!
I knew it...and everyone thought I was crazy for feeling her! Meredith Baxter Birney, who has five kids from three marriages, went on The Today Show recently too announce that she is lesbian. Meredith didn’t think it was a big deal. She only wanted to announce it after being under pressure from tabloids like The National Enquirer who recently printed pictures of her and her partner on a lesbian cruise.
Meredith, who played Mrs. Keaton, Michael J. Fox’s mom on Family Ties, says she discovered herself seven years ago. Four years ago she met Nancy Locke who she’s still with to this day. Congrats to Ms. Birney!

In 1968, she joined British Vogue as a fashion editor; there she remained until 1987 when Calvin Klein hired her to be his design director. She went to American Vogue the following year and became its creative director in 1995, a position she still holds.

THE RULE OF THREE'S.....
is a principle in English writing that suggests that things that come in threes are inherently funnier, more satisfying, or more effective than other numbers of things. From slogans ("Go, fight, win!") to films, many things are structured in threes. There were three musketeers, three little pigs, three billy goats Gruff, Goldilocks and the three bears, and Three Stooges.
A series of three is often used to create a progression in which the tension is created, then built up, and finally released. Similarly, adjectives are often grouped together in threes in order to emphasize an idea.

One of our favorite books as a child...
Click here to see the trailer. "WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE" a classic by distinguished author-illustrator Maurice Sendak, has been made into a feature film by director Spike Jonze combining puppetry and amazing cinematography. I can't wait to see it on the IMAX screen! The film stars Max Records as Max and Catherine Keener as his mother, with Lauren Ambrose, Chris Cooper, James Gandolfini, Catherine O'Hara, Paul Dano, and Forest Whitaker providing the voices of some of the Wild Things. The film opens nationwide this Friday, October 16.
Now if they would only make "REALLY ROSIE" into a feature length film starring Ellen Page!

"MAD MEN" IS BACK ON AMC!
Come and jump on the band wagon! One of our favorite shows "Mad Men" is loved not only for its great story lines, but its FABULOUS 60's fashions. Betty Draper is the ultimate "Lipstick". :-) We love the neckties, skinny suits, beautiful print dresses, pill box hats and fedoras! We love the advertising talk and spotting our favorite products that were around back in the day. Who knew Utz potato chips have been around since forever. :-)
"Mad Men" Season Three Premiere on August 16 AMC,

ONE IN 8 MILLION
"New York is a city of characters. On the subway and in it's streets, from the intensit of Midtown to the intimacy of neighborhood blocks, is a 305-square-mile parade of people with something to say. This is a collection of a few of their passions and problems, relationships and routines, vocations and obsessions. A new story will be added weekly."
We were particularly drawn to Ra Ruiz's story titled "The Pier Kid". Harassed by schoolmates, Ms. Ruiz, now 22, took refuge among the gay youth hanging out at the Christopher Street pier. You will enjoy all these thought provoking stories about New Yorkers.

YXTABAY IN THE L + W CO-OP!
Lipstick + Wildflowers is looking for individuals who create their own art. The L + W CO-OP™ will be a great opportunity for those who in addition to, or in place of selling their products to boutiques (wholesale and/or consignment) or vending for hours at markets, to reach a new audience on the Internet within the LGBTQ community and beyond, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This opportunity is at an extremely low cost, with no financial risk on your behalf and a great way to expose your art and sell it directly to all. This will also allow you more time to rest and create.
Contact lwcoop@lipstickandwildflowers.com for more information on this great venture.
L + W CO-OP™ welcomes photographers, musicians, writers, designers and other artisans to submit their work for review. We are looking for those who will represent the L + W CO-OP™ in a way that will maintain our brand aesthetic and integrity. If your submission fits with our image and client base, we will contact you within two (2) weeks to take it further.
